CHRISTMAS PARADE

Hot Springs

MONDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2019 | 6:30 PM

RULES

Be in your assigned parking lot no later than 5 p.m.  Parade starts  promptly at 6:30 p.m.

1.

Central Avenue will be closed by 6 p.m.  If you are trying to get to your parking lot after 6 p.m. you will need to reach Central through Gulpha Gorge or over West Mountain.

2.

Parade route moves north to south on Central from Whittington to Orange.  Turn left onto Orange and finish at Transportation Depot.  Do not leave the parade route or pull over to unload before Transportation Depot.  The parade ends at Transportation Depot!

3.

Business vehicles will not be allowed in the parade unless they are covered with decorations or pulling a decorated trailer or float.

4.

No open flames on floats.

5.

Walking groups excluding bands and choirs are limited to 25 persons per entry.

6.

No throwing of items! However, you may hand out goodies to people attending the parade, as in hand-to-hand.

7.

Keep moving and keep 15 feet between you and the entry in front of you.

8.

You cannot have Santa or Mrs. Claus on your float. We encourage you to use reindeer, elves, Christmas trees, Santa's bag, toys, and any other images of Christmas that you choose.

9.

Do not jump off and on float entries while they are in motion!

10.

The winners will be contacted at the conclusion of the parade using the contact information provided on the entry application.  Results will also be posted on this website and on www.oaklawnrotary.com and on www.facebook.com/oaklawnrotary

11.

The winners are asked to be at the Arlington Hotel Lobby at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 to receive their award and to have their picture taken for the Sentinel-Record. Dick Antoine will also announce the winners on his KZNG talk radio program (1340-AM) on Tuesday morning.

12.

Any concerns on the day of the parade can be addressed to the Rotarian in your assigned parking lot. If the lead Rotarian needs to contact the Parade Coordinator, they will do so.

13.

Each parking lot has attendants that will line you up in numerical order.  Look for them when you arrive to your assigned parking lot.  They are wearing a neon vest.

14.

Follow direction of the parade volunteers.

15.

All animal owners/organizations must pick up after their animals.  The human pooper scoopers will be picking up after the horses once the horses are marching in the parade.  DO NOT leave animal manure in the parking lots!!

16.

All horses must be picked up at Transportation Depot.  No riding back through town to your assigned parking lot once the parade is over.  

17.

The entry deadline for the parade will be stricktly observied—no exceptions. In addition, no "piggybacking" on late entries will be allowed. The entry deadline is Friday, November 22, 2019 at 5 p.m.

18.

Abuse of parade rules may cause denial of your entry in the parade the following year.  Oaklawn Rotary reserves the right to reject any entry.

19.

At least one representative for each parade entry should attend a meeting on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 7 p.m. at the Transportation Depot, 100 Broadway Terrace.  Parade numbers and additional information will be distributed at this meeting.  Parade entrants who have participated in the parade for more than 2 past years are not required to attend (but are welcome) - parade numbers and information will be sent to them by email.
